Winnipeg Warehouse Solutions, Storage, Pick & Pack, and Cross-dock

Warehouse Storage in Winnipeg That Grows With Your Business (Without the Long Lease)

When your business grows, inventory grows with it. Seasonal swings make things even trickier—suddenly your back room is packed, then half-empty two months later. If you need space that adapts without locking you into a long lease, a warehouse in Winnipeg gives you flexibility and keeps your distribution moving.

At The RS Group, we handle receiving, storage, pick and pack, cross-docking, and local distribution from our 150,000 square foot facility at 175 Plymouth Street in Winnipeg. We service regional, National and International companies who need a centralized Canadian distribution center capable of offering storage, fulfillment and complex kitting services.

We maintain ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management, ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health and safety, and operate as a Canada Border Services Agency Customs Bonded Warehouse. We’re also a registered member of the International Warehouse Logistics Association (IWLA) and US FDA Registered.

Why Winnipeg Makes Sense for a Distribution Centre

Winnipeg sits right on Highway 1 for east-west shipments and Highway 75 heading to the U.S. border. Rail and airport cargo facilities are close by. If your suppliers ship from the East Coast to the West Coast in Canada, or to BC, or the Midwest in the USA, keeping stock in a Winnipeg distribution centre or warehouse can reduce transit times and help you serve customers faster and more consistently.

How It Actually Works

When your pallets arrive, we check for damages and accuracy, label each pallet with a unique tracking barcode, and put them in their assigned locations. Being a food grade facility, we track at many levels including lot numbers and expiry dates to name a few. We provide web based inventory updates, so you always know what’s on hand.

We use a powerful WMS to provide real-time inventory visibility 24/7. The system tracks every movement, and we offer full EDI capability and inventory systems integration with your existing platforms.

Orders come in a variety of formats, which we adapt to based on customer needs.  Our team is well versed in various order configurations and ensures that all orders are verified and properly entered prior to getting released for picking.  Released orders are then assigned to our team based on type which include; small parcels to full skid lots.  Orders are picked based on customer driven SOP’s which include:  FIFO;  LIFO, Location Picking; Batch Picking; Zone Picking and;  Wave Picking.   Upon completion and ensuring all labelling requirements are met, orders are then released for carrier pick up.

RS offers a variety of inventory counting intervals, which is in addition to our internal processes.  Our inventory management includes;  Periodic; Perpetual and; Cycle counting.

Here’s what sets us apart: RS Distribution Services maintains an impressive inventory accuracy rate of 99.8% and an order accuracy rate of 99.95%, based on customer physical inventory counts.

As one logistics lead from the HVAC industry shared: “Extremely happy with the turnaround time when it comes to any task, and the responsiveness is top notch. When it comes to communication, the RS Distribution warehouse is our role-model warehouse, and we work with a total of 7 warehouses.”

Industries We Serve

Over 32 years, we have developed expertise across automotive parts, building materials, beverage products, construction materials, consumer electronics, food products, furniture, manufacturing, medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, and more. Our specialized services include cross-docking, pick and pack, kitting and assembly, reverse logistics, bonded warehousing, and food grade.

Storage That Adjusts to Your Actual Needs

You can reserve a set number of pallet spaces year-round, or scale up and down as your volume changes. We regularly work with seasonal businesses—one e-commerce client maintains 40 pallet positions year-round but scales to 120 during their November-December peak, then back down in January. The entire scale-up takes very little time.

Returns get handled without clogging up your shop. Items are checked and sorted however you want—clean returns go back to stock, damaged items move to quarantine. Our reverse logistics capabilities ensure your inventory counts reflect what’s actually sellable.

Warehousing and Transport Under One Roof

The biggest benefit comes when the same team storing your inventory also runs the trucks. You can hold stock, stage orders, and feed same-day courier runs from the same address. One dispatcher sees everything from start to finish. We currently serve over 575 clients across Manitoba, completing approximately 160,000 deliveries annually.

Our warehouse clients enjoy ongoing and reliable order and inventory accuracy. These metrics are vital for a local manufacturer to whom we provide just-in-time picking and shipping services. Ensuring precise and timely inventory is crucial for their factory, which employs 1,000 people, to have the right products available when needed.

As a purchasing director from the food storage industry told us: “RS Distribution has been doing an excellent job. We really appreciate the consistent service and support – please keep up the great work!”

Getting Started

We start by understanding the full extent of your needs, followed by sending  you a questionnaire detailing the products, storage and inventory format required. Our team will review the scope, and provide you with a pricing model that will meet your storage and order fulfillment objectives. This will be followed by a Service Agreement outlining the agreed rates and scope of work.

A detailed onboarding process ensures that all parties have a clear understanding of each other’s responsibilities, ensuring a smooth start up with no impact to the end customer. This includes a review of your products and packaging, planning your first inbound shipment, and assigning storage locations based on product configuration. We set up pick rules and cutoff times; any kitting or assembly specifications; packaging and labelling instructions; preferred carrier metrics;  then go live. Our pricing structure is straightforward and not laden with hidden fees—storage uses a pallet or bin rate and adjusts based on pallet dimensions; picking is based on line items / pick quantities / product weight and dims and packaging requirements; cross-docking has a simple in-and-out rate; hourly fee is applicable for any out of scope activities.

We’re a locally owned, family-run business that’s been serving Manitoba for over 32 years, with customers that have been with us since day one. We strive to achieve our promise of “Delivering on your promises.”
